Nominations are now open for Smokeball’s prestigious Beacon Award! This honor recognizes legal professionals making a significant impact on their clients and communities through pro bono work, legal services, and more.

To participate, Smokeball clients can nominate themselves or another Smokeball user by June 3, 2024.

To celebrate the work of our community heroes, the Beacon Award prizes include:  

• One (1) Grand Prize Winner will receive a $2,500 check and a $2,500 donation to the legal aid organization of their choosing.
• One (1) People’s Choice Winner will receive one year of personalized coffee from Mistobox and a personalized Yeti tumbler.  
• Five (5) random nominees will receive a exclusive Smokeball prize pack.
• Plus, all finalists and winners will receive an engraved Beacon Award statue and will be featured on Smokeball’s website and social media.

The judging panel will evaluate nominees based on how significantly the nominee’s legal work has impacted their clients and community; how much time has been devoted to the matter(s); and how big the impact is.

From creating an inclusive workplace to working with our Chicago DEI partners, building and giving back to the communities we’re part of is central to our company values. Smokeball clients are passionate about community, too. Many of them advocate for those who face inequality, discrimination, poverty, or who are otherwise struggling—often without expecting recognition for their pro bono work.  

While we can’t award every Beacon Award application, each nomination represents inspiring and life-changing work. We thank all those shining like beacons in their communities.
