California Lawyers Association Partners with Smokeball to Provide Free Trust & Billing Software to Members

Smokeball Bill assists CLA members with trust accounting compliance and firm success.

SACRAMENTO, CA — November 12, 2024 - Smokeball, the industry-leading legal practice management software platform, is partnering with the California Lawyers Association (CLA), the California statewide voluntary bar association, to provide all members with free access to Smokeball Bill, Smokeball’s trust accounting and billing software solution.  

California attorneys handle millions of dollars annually on behalf of their clients. This prompted the California State Bar to enact the Client Trust Account Protection Program (CTAPP), which provides additional rules and requirements for reporting and managing trust accounts for California attorneys. With Smokeball Bill, attorneys in the state can better comply with these new regulations and financially manage their caseloads.  

“California attorneys have a massive responsibility when it comes to safeguarding funds for their clients,” said Chris Nguyen, CEO of the California Lawyers Association. “We wanted to provide this benefit to CLA members, so they would be equipped with the tools they need to not only comply with trust accounting regulations, but better serve their clients.”  

Manually managing trust accounting and billing often leads to compliance errors and malpractice claims. Smokeball Bill makes it simple for law firm members to more easily comply with trust accounting regulations. The software also helps firms more easily send and collect invoices and bills.
