Smokeball Season of Giving 2020: Allies for Justice

This October Smokeball kicked off its third annual Season of Giving, where for every Smokeball demo scheduled, we donate to charity. In 2019 we raised $16,000 for Court Appointed Special Advocated for Children (CASA) of Cook County.  

This year, we’re aiming even higher. Smokeball’s employees have united under the theme “Allies for Justice” and plan to raise $20,000 for social justice organizations by Thanksgiving through a combination of donations linked to demos, standalone donations, and client participation.  

Through legal software that enables attorneys to better manage their firms and easily capture their billable hours, Smokeball’s mission is to help law firms better help their communities. With that in mind, the company has divided into three different teams, each choosing a different organization that they believe embodies the theme of justice for all. The following organizations were selected: 

• Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), the leading organization for the protection of children who enter the U.S. immigration system alone, strives to ensure that no such child appears in immigration court without representation. 
• My Block, My Hood, My City provides underprivileged youth in Chicago with an awareness of the world and opportunities beyond their neighborhood by focusing on Exploring, Experiencing, and Evolving.   
• Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is a catalyst for racial justice in the South and beyond, working in partnership with communities to dismantle white supremacy, strengthen intersectional movements, and advance the human rights of all people. 

For every demo of Smokeball’s leading practice management software set between now and Thanksgiving, Smokeball will donate up to $150 – if you’ve been wondering how legal software can make your firm more organized and more profitable, or are a Smokeball user and would like to refer a colleague, now is a great time to take a look!  

We are also partnering with Smokeball users in our new Allies for Justice initiative, with select clients helping to promote our Season of Giving throughout their networks. And last but not least, we’ve created individual donation funds for each charity, where donations can be made outright – no law degree required.
