Trends, Bottlenecks and Breakthroughs in Family Law

What are some of the trends in family law over the past three years? What are some more common roadblocks a family law attorney might face when taking on a case? Smokeball delved into these topics and more during our August webinar, “Trends, Bottlenecks & Breakthroughs in Family Law.”

Our panel of speakers, including InfoTrack’s Lindsey Dean, and attorneys Nancy Chausow Shafer, and Kristie Fingerhut explored the practical skills necessary to combat these challenges and their impact on clients, careers and overall well-being.

Lindsey Dean from InfoTrack began by explaining the effects of technology on family law the past few years due to advances in technology, including a surge in venues adopting e-filing state to state. It clearly can be difficult to keep pace with the many challenges and bottlenecks created within a family law practice.

Nancy Chausow Shafer from Sage Counsel, LLC shared the importance of drafting documents from remote meetings and court dates, as well as discussing effective techniques for time and billing. Nancy also broke down how controlling emotions in a case helps you to better manage obstacles, allowing for a more successful family law practice.

Kristie Fingerhut from Family Law Group closed out by summarizing ways to overcome these obstacles and set boundaries with clients to become a more productive and profitable law firm.
